Interstate 5: a snowy Portland-bound car adventure

Yesterday Shannon and her mom Sarah and I left for Portland Oregon! We left at 5:40 am and didn’t arrive until 9:20 pm. It was quite the trip! There was a ton of snow north of Redding in Shasta County and we stopped to buy tire cables (same idea as chains) but luckily we didn’t need to use them. I have hardly even seen snow since High School so I was happily taking pictures outside of the window and took some videos too. Finally around Weed, California the roads were pretty dry and normal, but it still was snowing. Of course I had to take some pics of Weed road signs, since it’s kind of an ongoing joke in California and we drove through it! Our last stop before Oregon was Yreka for lunch and then once we hit Oregon we were surrounded by beautiful trees and happy to be driving in nice weather!

We stopped at a gas station and Sarah went to pump the gas, but a gas guy immediately corrected her and told her that he must pump the gas, and then he washed the windows. He seemed a little irked that we were from California and didn’t really know what was going on, but hey, what can we say? We are new to the whole Oregon thing.

Here are pics from the road trip, most of which were taking from inside of the car:
